1 commentLord of the Rings: Hungry Eyes
I was inspired to make this video by two things. Firstly, seeing MorganCharles’s fantastic video which introduced me to the subject matter - namely, a Legolas/Aragorn shipper vid, and also the information that there is, according to LOTR lore, a ‘Hungry Eyes’ video in existence that the crew on the films made and showed Orlando Bloom. MorganCharles’s video really inspired me, and I was bitten by the bug from the moment I saw it. I do confess to using a similar interpretation of the arrow nocking/sword drawing scene as Morgan does, as I couldn’t find a better place in the video to put it than that, so all credit and acknowledgement for that moment of the vid goes to the original vidder. The song itself has long been a favourite of mine, and with the amount of longing, wide eyed looks that abound in this film, from both actors, it was a natural choice. Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen play off one another so well, and have a great onscreen chemistry, and Peter Jackson is, of course, the god of the camera in the films. The sweeping 180 degree shots of the actors that he’s so well versed in were lovely to work with and manipulate, and there were so many lingering shots on the actors’ faces, capturing their eyes and facial expressions that I was hard pressed to condense them all down into four minutes. For me, the whole trilogy is all about the eyes…from Orlando Bloom, Viggo Mortensen and Liv Tyler’s long, stately gazes to the sheer warmth of Elijah Wood and Dominic …

It’s the summer of 1963, and 17 year old Frances “Baby” Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life as well as a thing or two about dancing. Based on the musical “Dirty Dancing”, this piece encapsulates the fun vibrant vide of the 60’s, and the change in musical style and taste. This dance moved through “the twist”, soul influenced rock ‘n’ roll (the “dirty dancing” of the time), through to the iconic closing number in this much loved musical and film. Choreography: Leah Matkin
